Up until the Tightvac, there has never been any container specifically invented and marketed to the Coffee & Tea Industry. There are several reasons for this:  Coffee & Tea are organic products, meaning that exposure to the elements such as light, moisture, temperature & air begin to break down the natural structure of both coffee & tea.
               
One of the safest ways to preserve & store your Coffee & Tea is to refrigerate it or for the more serious among us, to freeze it. Because coffee & tea absorb odors it is essential that you use a container that is air tight & smell proof allowing the gasses of coffee to escape and the smelly odors & oxygen from entering! Especially in the refrigerator/ freezer where there are so many smells from all the food and the refrigeration system itself.
*Remember it is best to store your coffee & tea in a container that does not allow light to penetrate inside!* Basically a solid container works best.

The absolute best way to store coffee beans is in the freezer, But as whole beans – Not ground beans! Whole beans preserve there own flavor by not exposing the inside bean to the elements. As soon as a bean is ground, it begins to lose its flavor and vitality. But by storing beans whole you can preserve the rich aromas and coffee taste you expect. Lets face it a bad cup of coffee is not an acceptable way to start the day.

TEA
Tea is the second most consumed beverage on the planet after water! Early in human history people (The Chinese) learned of the importance of boiling water, and this is one of the reasons tea is so popular. Tea easily absorbs moisture and odors and its essential it is stored in a cool dark place. It must be stored in an airtight container not exposed to light and used within a reasonable amount of time. Because light breaks down the quality of tea, glass containers are not suitable for the storage of tea or coffee unless kept in a dark place. Temperature changes, light, and air will cause tea to become stale, loosing its flavor well before its time.
